Treasuring God's Truth - Reformation Day Devotional

Reformation Day (October 31) is an opportunity to help children understand a special part of Christian history — a time when believers sought to bring the Church back to the truth of God’s Word. While the story begins with Martin Luther in Germany more than 500 years ago, the heart of the Reformation is something all Christians can celebrate: God’s Word is our authority, and His grace is a free gift through Jesus Christ.

This devotional is not meant to highlight differences between denominations but to remind us that God continues to call His people to love His truth and live by faith. As you share this story, focus on the courage it takes to stand for Scripture, the importance of reading the Bible for ourselves, and the joy of knowing we are saved by grace alone.

As a non-denominational ministry, We avoid framing that highlights denominational division, theological conflict, or “against-the-church” narratives.

Through the Reformation, people began reading God’s Word in their own language and learning what it truly teaches. From that time came five key truths, called the Five Solas, each one pointing us back to Jesus:

• Scripture Alone — God’s Word is our guide and authority.

• Faith Alone — We are saved by trusting in Jesus, not by trying harder.

• Grace Alone — Salvation is a gift, freely given by God’s love.

• Christ Alone — Jesus is our Savior and the bridge to God.

• To the Glory of God Alone — Everything we do points to Him.
